WELCOME TO BETTY KIEFER ELEMENTARY

Hi everyone!  I am the school counselor at Betty Kiefer Elementary.  This is my 11th year as a Bobcat.  I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington with a degree in social work.  Shortly after, I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and became a Wolverine at the University of Michigan, where I received my Masters Degree in Social Work.

At Betty Kiefer we have a vested interest in making sure we create a safe, kind, caring and compassionate environment for ALL students.  We have several school wide programs to help us encourage students, staff, and parents to recognize the importance of treating people with respect, kindness and compassion. In addition to school wide programs, I also teach guidance lessons in the classroom.  Classroom lessons may include topics such as personal safety, conflict resolution and empathy lessons.  I also run small groups for students during the school day.  The focus of the groups vary from year to year based on the needs of the students.  Topics that groups may focus on include changing families, anger management and grief/loss.  I am also available to meet with individual students to address their specific needs. If you are interested in having your son or daughter participate in a group or individual counseling please feel free to contact me at the school by phone or e-mail 687-5206 or remiller@lakeland272.org.
